Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after that period of 2023.
Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to create a final set.
The opponent rescued four early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
