Vehicles in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were alerted by a individual who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials state early analysis indicate the liquid was likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

City officials said they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the public for details.

An important official commented the incident left him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
